Intro to Adult Sewing
Ages 18+The starting point for beginner sewists! Learn sewing machine safety, how to operate and thread a sewing machine, and essential sewing skills (seam allowances, cutting tools, etc). Then choose your fabric and sew a lined tote bag to take home.
Note that the class may go over by 15-30 minutes depending on when you finish up your project

Adult Holiday Workshops

Sewing Foundations: Beyond the Basics
6-Week Adult Sewing Course | 2.5 Hours Each Week | Taught by Mrs. Jean
Ready to move beyond the basics and become a more confident, independent sewer? This 6-week course is designed for adults who already have a basic understanding of the sewing machine and are ready to build their skills through hands-on lessons and projects.
Throughout the course, Mrs. Jean will guide you through essential sewing techniques including taking body measurements, understanding different fabric types, using a serger, sewing zippers, assembling and reading commercial sewing patterns, understanding grainline, cutting fabric correctly, and constructing a garment from start to finish.
You’ll begin by creating a triangle zipper pouch while learning and practicing new techniques. Then, you’ll put those skills to work on your main project: a pair of loose-fit woven shorts! From preparing your pattern and cutting your fabric to serging seams and constructing your finished garment, you’ll experience the garment-making process step by step.
This course is perfect for adults who want to feel more comfortable working independently, understand the why behind sewing techniques, and gain the foundational skills needed to take on more advanced projects.
Over 6 weeks, you’ll learn:

• How and why to use a serger
• Quilting stitches
• Woven vs. knit vs. non-woven fabrics
• Fiber content and fabric basics
